The life and work of the artist Gottfried Lindauer from the time he arrived in New Zealand from Bohemia in 1873 until he died in Woodville in 1926. During this time he travelled extensively around the country, photographing and painting many Maoris and Europeans whose portraits now form a valuable record of 19th century notables in both cultures.
