A provocative design has provided a new focal point for the complex of New Zealand's parliamentary buildings : the Beehive is a bold circular structure, developed from a concept by the British architect Sir Basil Spence. This short film looks at the reasons why a new building was needed, shows the planning and design that has gone into the Beehive and examines its function as the 'house' of the executive wing of government.
