Full Description
CANOES AND CRATER LAKES. 402 ft. Canoeing Association members climb with canoe parts past Ketetahi hot springs to the cold Blue Crater Lake on Mount Tongariro. Later, climbing to 9,000 ft., they launch their craft and explore the hot Ruapehu Crater Lake, and on the way home shoot rapids on the Tongariro River at Turangi.
CEMENT FOR ROXBURGH. 543 ft. Progress on the huge Roxburgh hydro-electric project, where cement arrives in bulk truckloads instead of in bags. Diversion of the river was aided by a new technique of protecting the advancing coffer-dam against the current.
