Full Description
PIG IN THE SWIM. 96 ft. Andrew Jones of Napier has an affectionate and unusual pet in Susie, his young wild-type sow, who enjoys a daily swim with Andrew in the surf off Westshore Beach.
HOLIDAY ON AIR. 310 ft. Members of the Canterbury Gliding Club, and visiting record-holder Phillip Wills, soar aloft in gliders over the hills of the Mackenzie Country, against a background of the Southern Alps.
IMPORT NO PESTS. 486 ft. At wharf-side Customs inspections a Department of Agriculture plan quarantine inspector is on duty. Suspect fruit, plants, bulbs and general cargo are fumigated in vacuumised steel chambers. Possible disease organisms are identified by specialists, and research is carried out to make imports safe so that they present no danger to the agriculture and health of New Zealand.
