PINE TO PAPER The Big Mill at Kawerau grows bigger; the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Fergusson opens a second huge paper-making machine. CAVES ON THE COAST Remarkable caves are discovered in rugged country near Westport on the West Coast of the South Island. Apparently never before entered by man, they are now being explored by a party from Canterbury Museum. They find wonderful stalactite chambers, underground waterfalls, and skeletons of extinct birds, including bones of the giant moa over 1,000 years old.
