Full Description
Colour 21 mins. NFU Film Information Sheet No. 583 Cat. Refs. 1984-85 p.21; 1986-87 p.26. This film is an impression of the importance of play for people of all ages. The soundtrack carries the candid voices of children who express their own ideas about the necessity of play for 'Kids and Other People'. The activities shown are all informal, with the emphasis being on doing something for the sake of itself alone. Children roll in the snow and do cartwheels on the beach, a little girl watches sea-gulls and dreams of flying, a boy lies on his back studying the sky and plans trips to as-yet undiscovered galaxies, adults preen and parade at an extravagant fancy dress ball, two elderly ladies sit in the sun chatting about the weather. The film is a celebration of the spontaneity of play, with emphasis on informal activities which are inexpensive and accessible to most people. OFF THE GROUND (1) THE FIRST TO FLY
