Over 100 years ago 'Glenmark', in North Canterbury was a large run-holding, but has long since been divided up into separate farms. Some of these had a recurring problem of erosion due to flooding, so finally the farmers called on the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council for advice. The result was a co-operative flood-project for eight adjoining farms, with highly successful results which are encouraging other farmers to co-operate in similar schemes.
