Full Description

Speedway - powerful motorbikes, glaring lights and screaming crowds. Into this high revving world came a boy from 'Down Under'. From the quite provincial city of Christchurch, New Zealand, came a seventeen year old who took on the greats of International Speedway and won, not once but hundreds of times all over the world. He raced the British, the Europeans, the Americans and the Russians, and beat them all. Fifteen World Championships in a career that spanned twenty-five years. Ivan Mauger Speedway star extraordinaire. This documentary is about the man beneath the chequered helmet:- the boy who rode the dirt tracks down under - the seasoned professional who won more, for longer, than any other Speedway rider ever - the star for whom the dirt tracks became 'Circuits of Gold'.
