Private Research Use

These copies are provided strictly for private researchers and home use only. A copy is supplied with the understanding that it should not be edited, manipulated, broadcast or re-distributed, in the same way as a commercial DVD or video of a Hollywood film is. Archives New Zealand will not allow any re-use of any of its audio visual collection taken from private access viewing copies.

We provide copies on either VHS or DVD format with an on screen “water-mark” in the lower right hand side of screen. Currently we can only produce copies in the PAL television standard which will not work on NTSC equipment from countries such as the USA and Canada.

To select and order copies please search the on-line wiki for a title which you wish to order. Once you have selected the title(s) you wish to order please down load the order sheet and price list at the bottom of this page. Fill in the order sheet noting your contact details, film title, required format and cost. Then email or fax the order to our Access Services department. All of our access copies are made to order so the charges are based around the length of time it takes our technicians to create the copy rather than the length of the film.

Our standard turn around from receipt of your order is 4 weeks depending on demand. You are able to pay an extra fee for a rush service if you wish.
